Hostel and boarding

The hostel gives boarders a safe, supervised place to live and study, with separate wings, resident wardens, a common dining hall and supervised evening prep.

The school hostel gives boarders a safe, comfortable and supervised place to live and study. The wings are separate for boys and girls, a warden is resident on every floor, and the dining hall is common to all houses.

Rooms

Rooms are furnished rather than bare: a bed, a study table and lockable storage for every child, with four to six beds for the junior wing and fewer as classes go up. Wings are separate for boys and girls, and a warden is resident on each floor rather than on call from somewhere else on the campus.

Meals

One common dining hall serves every house. The weekly menu is set with the school doctor and pinned on the notice board, so a parent can read it on a visiting Sunday rather than being told about it. Special dietary needs are accommodated where the office is told in advance.

Study

Two hours of supervised prep every evening, with a subject teacher present on the floor. This is the single arrangement worth checking against any other boarding school you are considering: a warden with a register keeps a room quiet, but a subject teacher settles a doubt on the evening it appears rather than a week later.

Health and safety

An infirmary with a resident nurse, an isolation room, a doctor on call and a vehicle available at any hour. Security and supervision run around the clock, and the gate log records every entry and exit.

The rest of it

Laundry, Wi-Fi for supervised academic use, common rooms with games, and outdoor sport every evening. At four o'clock the rule is simple — every boarder is on a ground or in an activity room, not sitting in a dormitory.
